I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Puerto Rico, where I had the opportunity to study biopsychology, human behavior and group dynamics. I completed my masters degree in Boston College School of Social Work and dedicated my time there to focus on neuroscience research to study human development and behavior. I have training in caring for children who have experienced trauma. I am EMDR trained and I am also a certified Parenting Journey facilitator and Positive Discipline educator. Additionally, I have extensive training on Exposure Response Prevention intervention and Polyvagal theory.<\/p>\n
I have worked as a mental health clinician supporting the stabilization of families involved with CPS, experiencing homelessness, trauma and or substance abuse. I have experience working in a correctional facility facilitating individual and group therapy. I have worked in an outpatient clinic of a behavioral hospital providing individual and group therapy focused on CBT, DBT & ACT skills to help individuals struggling with depression, bipolar, suicide ideation, anxiety, psychosis and personality disorders to cope with their symptoms and return to functioning.<\/p>\n
I work from an approach where I use psychodynamic, solution focused, CBT, DBT, internal family systems and narrative therapy interventions. I pay attention to how the social environment and stressful situations impact brain health and behavior and how you have thrived in spite of your unique circumstances.
